Floor Marking & Coatings for Warehouses
In a warehouse, paint does practical work: it keeps pedestrians out of forklift lanes, marks racking aisles and loading bays, and protects the steel building. Marindec supplies the floor, marking and steel coatings for warehouses and distribution centres.
Floors and demarcation
| Job | Product | Key figures (TDS) |
|---|---|---|
| Aisle lines, walkways, bay numbers | Road marking paint, Type 2 general application | 150 µm DFT; 4–5 m²/L; no pick-up in under 15 min, hard dry 45 min |
| Whole-floor colour, pedestrian zones, stoeps | Floor & Stoep paint | ~7.5 m²/L at 45 µm; touch dry 45–60 min; hard dry 4–8 h |
| Safety zones and hazard markings | Signal Red A11, Golden Yellow B49 and other SANS colours | Made to order in other SANS and RAL colours |
Plan floor marking around shifts. Lines can be walked on quickly, but leave forklifts off until the paint is hard dry. On concrete, remove dust, oil and curing compound first, and make sure the floor is dry. See surface preparation.
The building and equipment
- Steel portal frames, columns and dock levellers: anticorrosive primer + enamel systems
- IBR roof sheeting and cladding: Galvanised Iron Primer first. See the IBR sheeting guide.
- Trailers, refrigerated units and truck bodies: transport enamel
- Gates, fencing and bollards: Fast Dry Enamel in safety colours
How much paint for floor lines?
At 150 µm, a 5L tin of road marking paint covers about 20–25 m², roughly 200–250 metres of 100 mm line. More detail in the road marking guide.
